St. Patrick’s Day | Wearing Of The Green

Updated: Jun 5, 2023

As the old saying goes, “There are only two kinds of people in the world, the Irish and those who wish they were.”

On St. Patrick’s Day, Irish or not, we find reason to celebrate with everything from parades and parties to hearty corned beef and cabbage meals, to all things green.

With Mother Nature ensuring the Ides of March are in full swing, the Boston Celtics crushing it in the NBA championships and more daylight by which to party, there are sure to be all sorts of shenanigans this year!

And remember – green is for shamrocks. If you imbibe something green, so do your teeth. If you don’t wake up feeling a little green after St. Patrick’s Day, you’ve got the luck of the Irish. If you wake up with the wearing o’ the green on your teeth, you probably had too much green beer or green something or other!

While all that dyed green food and drink seems fun at the time, the food coloring can have staying power. Rinsing often, brushing and flossing after consuming dyed goods will help keep your teeth from absorbing the color. For tough stains try a whitening tooth paste, which is usually a bit more abrasive.

Irish proverb says, “A good laugh and and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything.” If that and the whitening toothpaste don’t work, we’re here for you!
